Clare Teal and her Musicians

Jazz singer and much loved performer, Clare Teal, makes a welcome return with her new show, ‘Hey Ho’, a celebration of The Great British Songbook.

The show is based on Clare’s new album, of the same name. Although rooted in the jazz traditions of the 1930’s and 40’s this record covers a huge spectrum of sounds and genres, from ‘A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square’, Noel Coward’s ‘If Love Were All’ and Ray Nobel’s ‘Love is the Sweetest Thing’ through to contemporary classics ‘Chasing Cars’ (Snow Patrol) and ‘Why’ (Annie Lennox). Many of the numbers are assumed to be Americans songs, but in fact were written or co-written by British composers.

Clare has twice been voted British Jazz Singer of the year and also the BBC’s Jazz Singer of the year. Away from her singing work, Clare is becoming increasingly well known to radio listeners for her two weekly big band shows on BBC Radio 2, whether it be Clare Teal Sunday Night at 10pm or Big Band Special on Mondays at 11pm
