Pantomime postponed until Christmas 2021

With many theatres still dark and larger scale indoor live performances not able to go ahead, production company Polka Dot Pantomimes, have made the very difficult decision to postpone the annual pantomime until Christmas 2021.

In recent years the Spalding professional pantomime has become a festive tradition for thousands of families so it has been a very tough decision not to go ahead with this year’s production of Dick Whittington.

Darren Maddison, from Polka Dot Pantomimes commented “As Producers we feel that our priority must be the health and welfare of our cast, crew, creative team, chorus, chaperones and all those work at the South Holland Centre, as well as the loyal audiences that enjoy the Spalding pantomime each year.

We believe that Pantomime needs to be experienced in a packed auditorium with a large audience full of families and friends who can interact with the performers on stage, as well as a company who are able to work in close proximity to one another in the all-singing, all-dancing style that our pantos have become synonymous with - that is the beauty and tradition of Pantomime.

Without being certain we could achieve that this year, we would not be doing the art-form justice and feel we would be short-changing audiences. Therefore, postponing until next year feels like the most sensible, fair and safe option”.

SHDC Cllr Gary Taylor said, “Customers that have already purchased tickets will be contacted by the South Holland Centre box office team shortly to be offered a refund or given the option to transfer to next year’s show guaranteeing the best seats in the house”.

Will Dick Whittington become Lord Mayor of London? - Oh yes he will – and Panto will be back in 2021 stronger and more magical than ever!
